Thanks for the comments, gus.

Real failure? Are you perhaps saying my failures have been imaginary, or that the failures you have experienced have really taught you how to handle failure. If that is so, I'd love to hear specifically how you feel my thoughts on handling failure are incorrect.

Alienation? High school and junior high are the bastions of alienation and persecution, so I can't agree with you there. Being different may have its rewards in real life but it often comes with a huge price in those settings. Besides, I don't believe I have ever written about alienation, so I think that is sort of a moot point.

The fact is, gus, that I can only write about what I've experienced. Everything I write here is from my own experiences. Although you may disagree, that is a standard I hold myself to. There are many subjects I don't write about because of that standard I hold myself to. You are free to discount my opinion entirely.

Seeing as I have received hundreds of comments from readers who have appreciated the content I am writing and told me how it has helped them as it has helped me, I'm going to continue writing.

God, I cannot believe who glib your entire world view is. Your are 17 KID - you don't know what real failure is, what real alienation is, what it is to be an adult in an adult world. You say TOO much. Live a little bit more and come back to us when you've actually experienced what you're talking about.

Thanks for the actual quote, Roy. I usually google around to try and find the exact quotes but that one didn't seem to come up. I'll edit it into the original post.

I found the Roosevelt quote:
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”

Here's a URL with more of TR's gems:
http://en.thinkexist.com/quotation/in_any_moment_of_decision-the_best_thing_you_can/175025.html

Thanks for the thought-provoking post.

Changing our core beliefs and paradigms is time consuming and it is often very difficult. It is easy to understand the principle, intellectually, but living it is much harder. But I think in simply trying to reduce our ego from expanding over everything we have, we can acheive benefits even if we aren't perfect. I guess that is the whole idea of personal development in general. Not perfect but excellent.

Interesting post! I am continually pleased by the quality of your content. It is obvious you put alot of work and thought into your posts.

It is certainly difficult to reach the point of unwavering stillness that you speak of. I have been working at it for years in my own way, but I still feel tethered to defining myself with things below my conciousness. For me, I have been following a spiritual path to help reach that point. Adding more pragmatic methods such as what you describe to my repetoire of habits could certainly help push me, or anyone else over the precipice.
