Hi Scott,

Great post! And I totally agree with you - if you're not doing something you enjoy or love then why are you bothering? Life is too short to spend on things you hate. It's one thing to be more productive, it's another to be more productive doing the things you love doing.

I wrote something similar, though not as well articulated as you.

Thanks for the comments Claire and Leon,

I think it is important to remind people that ultimately, how we feel about doing a task is going to make the biggest difference in our productivity. Make something incredibly fun and procrastination and apathy go away.

The other important point to take home is that boredom and drudgery are emotions that we should be trying our best to remove from our lives. You can have fun and enthusiasm if you decide to. Maximize those moments in life.

Great reminders, Scott! It reminds me I need to put some of these more fun-based methods into my tips collection. I have recommended solutions like this for tasks that pretty much everyone hates, like filing. It can go much faster if you use bright colored folders, or even just put on music and dance around the office for a moment after filing each document. Using the shredder can be a fun game too.
I think the bottom line is that one how you do something is less important than your attitude about it.

I like this article. Passionate about something really contribute so much to the productivity. I apply the same thing when finding the right candidate for a job.

Anyway I have shared your article to my readers.

I might write an entry on how to think and run your life more like a game... Having more fun doing what will work for us is always good.
