I have had several health problems over the years and I have recently started eating 90% vegetarian and I love it. I have never felt better in my life. I have been consuming everything I can read on the topic. If you can’t go 100% veggies then flexitarian is the way to go! I would like to work my way to 100% whole foods but it’s a struggle.

I have lupus, but thankfully the symptoms have always been quite mild - and I put this down to a fairly healthy vegetarian diet. WBR LeoP

I am a young man who prior to reading this article was running and doing aerobics to gain a better physical appearance. Although while running I have a smile on my face and enjoy very much doing it, it was only for the sake of looking better. After reading this article I was enlightened. It showed me that I needed to be running to develop a healthier life style. I am a healthy person for myself now because it is good for me, not to look better for other people. However I gained the best of both worlds by becoming a healthier person. I wanted to thank you Scott for your motivation and setting me down the right path.

Great article, Scott. I had a rather rude awakening regarding my health when my bp shot up. I just went to the doctors today for a preliminary examination but the real deal about moi will show up when they run some tests on me. My wife and I have started working out together. This makes it much easier for me to get motivated. Thanks for the article, Scott. You're a great inspiration, man.

Alexander,

I completely agree with you. That's why my last suggestion was to experiment to find what works for you. I enjoy exercising, and I think if people look broadly enough they can too.

Great points Scott!

I would like to add one more, based om my personal experience. In my spare time, I've been an aerobics instructor for the last 10 years. Not for the money, but because it's a lot of fun and, hey, I get paid to exercise :o)

Consequently, I have seen a LOT of people either fail or succeed at exercise.

A lot of people DO manage to create an exercise habit and then get the results they're looking for, and all of these people invariably have one thing in common: They think it's fun!

In fact, it's so much fun that they don't need to convince themselves to go exercise. It's not really about willpower. They like exercising so much, that you simply couldn't keep them away.

So for anyone who wants to start a good exercise regimen, that's where I would start. Try a lot of things, until you find something fun. With all the different sports available out there, there's gotta be at least one you can enjoy :o)
