Thanks for your unique insights into blogging. I've been working on an ebook for Profitable Business Blogging (http://www.howblogersmakemoney.com) and will have this program out in the next day or two. I think your point about carnivals *might* be true, and I'd left it alone for several months. However, yesterday, I noticed that a new blogger reported thousands of visitors and Google PR4 within two months using blog carnivals, so, clearly, the strategy isn't dead. If you have any particular content you'd like to include in my program (copyright preserved and link back to you) please let me know. Cheers! - Scott Andrews, CEO of ARRiiVE Business Solutions (http://arriive.blogspot.com).

Rich,

Currently I write for lifehack.org and pickthebrain.com. If I had more time I could pick up other contracts as I have received quite a few offers. But between being a full-time student and having other projects, my time is very limited as-is.

Scott,

What kind of freelance writing do you do? Just curious.

Brett,

Over the last year I've made roughly a 3-5x increase in traffic while going from $40 per month to $1000.

I use AdSense earnings as a good predictor of traffic. They have gone from around $50/month to 180-220 per month. However, as my blog has continued to grow I've found new revenue streams. Selling my e-book has accounted for up to $300 in some months (it fluctuates wildly). Freelance writing (which would have been more difficult to get if I did not have an established presence) has also provided a steady chunk of earnings.

Hope that clarifies things,
-Scott

$1000 a month already puts you above most of the other bloggers out there, Scott. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing what you've used to get to that level.

Excellent post - I'm just now considering monetizing myself.

As to Chris' comment, it would definitely be helpful to know just how much increased traffic has had to do with your earnings versus increased tactics. Can you throw us a bone here?

Nice Post and some great information. I am actually making a challenge to myself and seeing if other bloggers are up to the challenge. The goal $100/day in passive income ($3000/month). So for you that would be a 3x increase in 3 months rather then myself who is trying to do a 20x increase.

Anyway, nice blog and I see your a Tim Ferriss Fan. I recently had the chance to meet him and am giving away an autographed copy of the 4 hour work week, check out the link for more details. I also plan to run a couple of more contests to help self promote my blog.
