this is really one of the core issues to be faced. Rather just concentrating on new goals, we need to focus on our existing scenario, i.e job in hand. What is it's status? I know 'new' always excites. But it is better to clear the old ones still in stock, lying untouched.

Tim,

You've hit the issue, but I wouldn't use the word comfort. Change is often very uncomfortable, even when it works in the long run. However, change isn't sustainable if you can't get it to fit with your life.

Vegetarianism was a transition tricky for me as well, but I found a way to avoid the problems and make it fit with my life.

Scott, thanks for a great reminder to look for systemic gaps and weaknesses. As you say, incremental losses from bad habits can far outweigh single instances of failure. Looking for continuous improvement opportunities can pay huge dividends over time.

Scott,

Good post. I like how you go deeper into self-awareness than simply strengths and weaknesses. The habits and motivation we exhibit in our actions is what we need to analyze. Thanks.

This reminds me of a number of bloggers who can't keep up with GTD. They want to, they know it's good for them, yet the problem is labeled too much work.

Becoming vegetarian is one of the hardest things I've done. However, it wasn't bad because I had reached a point where I was comfortable ordering vegetarian, cooking vegetarian, and didn't crave meat anymore. For years, I wanted to stop eating meat but I thought I didn't have the will power.

I think it boils down to comfort. The new change has to feel and intigrate comfortably into your life.
