Hugh,

Interesting extension of the metaphor, I hadn't considered that.

Hi Scott

I agree entirely. I especially like your sharing about treating a new project as an obsession.

I'm just starting a new project and so will dive straight in and totally immerse myself.

When we hesitate we are more likely to give in to fear and doubt.

You are more likely to stub your toe in the shallow end than the deep end. And you are going to dive in head first, it had certainly better be the deep end.

That's a great way of putting it, jumping into the deep end.

My once-pervasive shyness has pretty much fallen off the map over the last year or so, and I'd credit it all to just 'jumping in' as you describe.

I now walk into every room like I own it, whether it's full of college partiers or established businesspeople. I just walk in there like nothing can hurt me, and amazingly, nothing does! There was never anything to be afraid of, the whole time.

In the past I was always antsy about standing in the middle of the room or standing near the door where people could see me. How silly. It just took a leap.

Steve,

Sometimes you can jump in and take lessons at the same time. Just don't use formal classes as an excuse to avoid really getting started.

I like what you said. I would only add one caveat: don't jump in at the deep end if you don't know how to swim. It is definitely helpful to pay for some swimming lessons along the way. That being said, I never would have learned as much as I have about real estate investing, if my business partner and I had not bought our first investment property a little over a year and a half ago. And, like you, I would not know the first thing about blogging, if I had not started to do so a little around a year and a half ago

There is joy and excitement, and incredible learning, in the journey. Time to jump in!

Hey Scott!

Great picture to illustrate how learning new things work. Thank you for that.

I do it the same way you wrote, if I get into something new. I dive in the deep end, sometimes nearly drown but at least I learn much in short time. I never did it another way.

I love your sentence, as it is so right:

"A short-lived obsession will teach you far more than a long-term interest. "

Thank you!

Great advice on something which should really be common sense but not to everyone i guess.

I have a question, how do you write your articles? Do you read other articles and then write your own or read books and write what you just read?
