Pete,

That is how my system works, sorry if it wasn't clear in the post.

Ron,

I usually test for a month. The important thing is to be consistent while your testing, not to be stubborn.

Scott, a great post. I know for me, my major failing is setting too many priorities to try and finish in a day - which is often a recipe for overworking. Hence I now aim to start my day with my most important tasks and that seems to be doing the trick. It always feel good that even if something comes up in the middle of the day (and strangely it doesen't now), I have completed my most important things first.

Cheers, Niro

I've been through several systems like you said, trying to find just the "right one", and usually if it doesn't work out, I end up right back at square one.......chaos. So far it's been some of the more simpler ones that have proved the most beneficial for me in the long run.

Curious though, how long do you suggest sticking to a system to see if it works for you?

Great advice, Scott.

Begin every day with the mindset that “today is a good day”. Believe that you will accomplish your dreams, and you have never been closer to accomplishing those dreams until today. If you begin the day with the right mindset every day, you will achieve great things. As you plant the seed to future success, the words you speak will reflect the prosperity consciousness you posses.

Hi Scott,

my take on productivity systems is that their core is about the development, reinforcement and application of one's habits.

I've experimented with habit modification systems over the past decade and a half, and I've found what is the most effective approach to take.

A few years after I found the best system for myself, I came across the following book - Self-Directed Behavior: Self-Modification for Personal Adjustment (David L. Watson & Roland G. Tharp - and in my opinion it is the most helpful book that I've ever read in the personal development field.

How about starting simple, then increasing complexity? The simple plan is often a good starting point, but not the best it can be for you specifically. Once you begin actually sticking to your plan, you gain experience in knowing the weaknesses and ways you can make it better suited to your life.
