How large is the book, how long will it take to read?

The book is almost 80 pages in length, and I have taken great care to make it easy for reading. You can quickly absorb the ideas through a fast skim and then take the time to re-read sections if you have trouble. The book could have been longer given the amount of content, but I chose to use images and a highly readable format so that the ideas can really sink in.

This sounds like a quick fix? I'm tired of over-hyped solutions that don't work.

This is definitely not a quick fix. The ideas in the book won't immediately make you a master of changing habits. Instead treat the book as a guide for how you can master the skill of controlling your behavior.

If you wanted to buy a book to learn a programming language, you wouldn't expect to be able to create Windows just after reading it. But if you truly are committed to learning, then the programming book can give you a far more detailed guide than you could otherwise get from trial and error. This book is just another guide, to give you the path to mastery.

What gives you the credibility to talk about this?

I freely admit I don't have a PhD or have had the chance to coach CEO's and presidents. But I do have the personal experience backed up by hours of painstaking research to understand the subject. Over a few years of learning and training I went from struggling to change any behavior, to making difficult changes on a whim. Here's just a couple of the habits I've turned on and off in my ongoing experiment I call life:

I regularly continue most of these habits, but many aren't permanent routines but just different modes of behavior I can access when I want. As I explain in the book, the purpose of changing a habit isn't to overcome some insurmountable obstacle to reach a perfect new way of life but just to have fun experimenting.

The skill of changing habits isn't to limit yourself and become a robot, but to give yourself more options. I don't feel restricted by willpower, past routines and behavior and I am free to sculpt my daily life in any way I see fit.

Are these ideas backed by psychological research?

Most of my ideas are drawn from personal experience, but I read heavily into fields of psychology to help form them. Other ideas I draw directly from famous psychological experiments from Pavlov's to Skinner's.

I've read other books on the subject of changing habits, how is this one different?

This book doesn't offer the "one true path" to changing habits. I think a lot of books about changing habits fail because they only offer one route. This book covers the basics of conditioning habits through trial periods, but also offers many different advanced techniques that you can try when things go wrong.

Changing habits isn't a science but an art. I've tried to include as many different styles as possible under one basic approach so you can have more options when trying to decide how to go about a change.
