Post Suggestions for 2008?
I’ve just got back from a week-long internet hiatus and I’m ready to start another year writing about self-improvement. I’ve received a few comments from readers who like the direction the blog has been taking, and others who feel I’ve emphasized some topics too much and other topics too little. Now is your chance to voice your opinion on what you would like to see in 2008.
Learn More, Study Less Scheduled for Spring 2008
A big release in the spring will be my new holistic learning e-book : Learn More, Study Less. Since writing my first short e-book on the subject , I’ve received hundreds of e-mails from people who want more information. This book is my attempt to do just that. I’ve finished all major writing on the book and I expect when it is formatted in to an easy-to-read e-book format it will be 200-300 pages long.
Along with the book I plan to include various exercise printouts so you can get started using some of the techniques in the book. With the huge amount of information, effort and time being put into this package of e-book + printouts, I’m expecting the program to start between $30-$40.
Call for Academic Lifehackers
The book will need extensive testing before it can be released. Since many of these ideas are experimental, I want to get as much reader feedback as possible. I’d like to run a group experiment with 10-15 students to work with me on the holistic learning methods for a 2-3 month period. This will help me get hands on feedback for tweaking the ideas as well as concrete results about how well the holistic learning techniques work.
Those who sign up for this holistic learning experiment will get:
- Early access to the book’s content. (Possibly starting mid January)
- Contact with me throughout the book for help with implementation and advice.
- A free copy of the final product when it is released.
- Must be currently enrolled in a University or college program.
- Willing to devote a few hours per week to learning the new techniques + correspondence.
- Able to commit to the program for at least 2 months.
- I’ll need to know your current grades, courses you’re taking, current study habits and a brief academic bio.
- After reading the book, we can set up some practice with the new techniques.
- Semi-weekly e-mails for progress, obstacles and learning points.
- At the end of the trial, I’ll need any quantitative improvements (reduced studying time, better grades). I’ll also be looking for qualitative improvements (better understanding, less stress, improved habits) since I’m not expecting huge quantitative changes in such a short experimental period.
