He uses Bill Gates life as an example, showing how a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotthyoung.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/14\/the-art-of-the-small-start\/\">small starts<\/a> pushed him towards starting one of the largest companies in the world.<\/p>\n<h2>From the Archives<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotthyoung.com\/blog\/2008\/02\/28\/relax-without-feeling-lazy-kill-open-loops\/\">Relax Without Feeling Lazy: Kill Open Loops<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;Stop working on open-ended tasks. These waste your time, cause procrastination and accomplish little. Open-ended tasks are any tasks that don\u2019t have a clear end point. They are activities like &#8216;studying&#8217;, &#8216;working&#8217; or &#8216;putting on finishing touches&#8217;. They don\u2019t have a stopping point where you can clearly say, &#8216;I\u2019m done.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>From the Shelf<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FFree-Future-Radical-Chris-Anderson%2Fdp%2F1401322905%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1253192716%26sr%3D8-1&amp;tag=scottcom-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\">Free: The Future of a Radical Price<\/a><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=scottcom-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/> &#8211; Is the future business model based on giving things away for free? I had read many reviews of this book, from authors I respect decrying that &#8220;free&#8221; isn&#8217;t sustainable. After reading, however, I can&#8217;t see what all the fuss was about.<\/p>\n<p>The business model Anderson describes is the one I run, in micro form, here on this website. Ninety-five percent of my writing is given to you, free of charge. Only another 5% do I package into in-depth guides to support my income.
