In this email I’m going to talk about a method I’ve used extensively
\nto learn without investing a large time commitment: audio books.<\/p>\n

Audio Books — Learning Without the Time Commitment<\/p>\n
Almost all learning activities require some time investment.<\/p>\n
No, it should require dozens of hours of wasteful rote learning.
\nBut whether you use rapid learning tactics or not, you still need
\nto spend *some* time learning.<\/p>\n
This can make things difficult, particularly when you already have
\na busy schedule. How do you learn new things when you don’t have
\ntime in the day?<\/p>\n
One of my favorite solutions to this problem is to get material on
\naudio books. Audio books allow you to study when you’re doing other
\ntasks.<\/p>\n
When you’re driving, cleaning, cooking, waiting in line or just
\nwalking around, you can easily listen to an audio book on your
\nMP3 Player or iPod.<\/p>\n
When I used to do this more intensively, I could sometimes listen
\nto a few hours of audio each day, even though I allocated no time
\ndirectly to listening to audio books.<\/p>\n

So what can you use the audio book method for?<\/p>\n
The most obvious is to learn about subjects you’re interested in,
\nbut don’t have time to sit down and read a paperback. Most books
\nfrom self-help to history, have audio versions you can listen to.<\/p>\n
If you’re learning a language, then you can use this method to
\nlisten to podcasts in that language. I’ve been doing this the last
\nseveral months to improve my French comprehension.<\/p>\n
You can even do this for your studies. Simply turn on a microphone
\nand recording software and read out the ideas in your notes. Then
\nconvert that to an MP3 file, put it on your player and you can
\nlisten to yourself explaining the subject.<\/p>\n
