Ass-Kicking Email – The Study Dissection Method

Hey,

In this email:

1. I discuss the guide for The Study Dissection Method
2. Which tactics should you use?

The Study Dissection Method

This one answers a common question I’ve been getting over the last
couple years from a reader who asks, “how do I study for ____?”

Although every class or self-education mission is different, there
is a broader pattern that can work to help you escape the dread
and frustration that comes from “studying” without feeling confident
that your studying will be successful.

Although I cover it in this week’s guide, another common question
I get through this program is: what method should I use?

This is a difficult question to answer because a lot of it relies
on personal preference. We might both take the same physics course,
and you may prefer to use image association/visceralization to study
whereas I may prefer using the 5-year old method or deep linking.

A better answer is to try out all the tactics and see what sticks
for you. You don’t need to do a full 30-Day Trial to do this. Just
trying out a method a couple times can give you an idea of whether
it is worth mastering.

If you read through the guide, I’ll offer another way of helping you
to answer this question, that is splitting your learning work into
facts/concepts/skills. That division is another good way to avoid
wasting time on the wrong tactics.

That’s all for today, I’ll be coming back at you next week with more
ass-kicking tips and tactics!

Metaphor for the Study Dissection Method: The study dissection method is like managing a soccer team: First, you need to list your available players (using the course syllabus), then you set a specific funcion for each one of them (defining whether it’s a fact, concept or ability) and then you instruct the team with a game plan (selecting what king of techniques you are going to use). The next step is the most obvious one: put everything in practice (using a productivity system)!
