Links for Getting in Shape

It’s approaching summer, a great time to be fit and look good. Here are a couple resources for getting in shape that I’ve stumbled upon recently. Good ideas in all:

Tim Ferriss documents how he gained 34 pounds of muscle mass from a combined total of eight hours in the gym over one month. Even if he had a natural predisposition to muscle gain which from his own accounts doesn’t appear to be the case this would be very impressive. The article is a good read and the research he uses to back up his efforts is even better.

The take-home point from this article is that quantity can’t replace quality. Tim and the research he offers seems to make the point that working out more cannot replace (and in some cases can negate) efforts for a high intensity. I’ve been looking for new exercise hacks lately, and this provides plenty.

Leo offers some tips on exercising and starts a May Challenge over at Zen Habits. Following up from my post on daily exercise, Leo has offered some great tips for getting in shape. He is also offering the ability to join in the May Challenge to receive reminder e-mails about your change. Looks like a great idea.

    Hey Scott,

Thanks for the great links. I have just recently finished Tim Ferriss’ new book: The 4 Hour Workweek. It was one of the best books I have ever read. I simply couldn’t put it down. Once I opened it up, there was no turning back.

Have you read his new book? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts.

No I haven’t got Tim’s book yet, but it definitely seems like an interesting read.

One of my personal favorites has been this guy: http://www.johnstonefitness.com. When I saw what he accomplished in his first few months of training I was amazed. I didn’t know you could make that kind of transformation in such a short period of time. You can check out his photo section. It’s a good resource for getting in shape. A lot of helpful information in the forums.

Debate is fine, flaming is not. Pretend that this comment form is a discussion taking place in my house. That means I enjoy constructive criticism and polite suggestions. Personal attacks, insults and all-purpose nastiness will be removed especially if it is directed at other readers.
